What Is It?
Docusplit AI is a web based AI document processing tool that automatically splits multi page PDF files into separate documents, renames each file intelligently, and organizes everything into a clean folder structure in a single workflow.
The platform is designed to solve a common document management problem. When businesses or individuals scan a stack of mixed paperwork such as invoices, contracts, letters, receipts, bank statements, or insurance notices, the result is often one large PDF containing many unrelated documents. Sorting, naming, and filing each document manually can take a great deal of time. Docusplit AI removes that manual work by automating the entire process.
Its main advantage is that it combines splitting, renaming, and organizing in one step. While many PDF tools can only split files by page count or bookmarks, Docusplit AI uses computer vision and large language models to understand document content. It identifies where one document ends and another begins, determines the document type, extracts useful metadata such as sender, date, and invoice number, and creates meaningful filenames automatically.
How It Works
Docusplit AI uses a multi stage AI workflow powered by vision capable language models.
First, the user uploads a multi page PDF file, up to 50 MB, through drag and drop or file selection. Both digital PDFs and scanned documents are supported.
Next, each page is analyzed by an AI vision model. The system determines what type of document the page belongs to, whether it starts a new document or continues a previous one, and what key metadata can be extracted. This can include company or sender name, date, invoice number, and document type.
After that, pages belonging to the same document are grouped together automatically. The system recognizes pagination markers such as page numbers and also uses contextual clues to understand continuity across multiple pages.
Once the grouping is complete, each separated document is renamed using the extracted metadata. In invoice mode, filenames may follow a structure such as InvoiceNumber CompanyName.pdf. In document mode, filenames may follow a structure such as DocumentType Author Date.pdf.
Finally, all separated documents are packaged into a ZIP archive. Users can choose optional folder organization by date, by sender, or in a flat structure. The ZIP file also includes a metadata JSON file and a CSV overview of all extracted documents.
The tool runs in the browser with server side AI processing, so no software installation is required. Processing usually takes only a few seconds per page.
Use Cases
Docusplit AI is suitable for a wide range of personal and professional document workflows.
In accounting and bookkeeping, it can split scanned invoice batches into separate invoices named by invoice number and vendor, making them easier to import into accounting software.
For incoming mail digitization, it can turn one scanned batch of postal mail into separately named files sorted by sender and date.
In legal and contract management, it can process mixed scans containing contracts, notices, and correspondence, then classify and name them automatically.
For tax preparation, it can organize receipts, invoices, and tax related paperwork from one large scan into clearly named and dated files.
In archiving and compliance, it can help convert paper archives into structured digital records with consistent naming for easier retrieval.
Small businesses can use it to process mixed document stacks from clients, suppliers, or authorities without manual sorting.
Private users can also use it for personal document management, including insurance letters, bank statements, utility bills, and household paperwork. It is especially useful for building a clean personal archive of important documents such as rental agreements, tax returns, or medical letters.
Products
Docusplit AI offers two main processing modes.
Invoice Mode
Invoice Mode is optimized for invoice handling. It extracts invoice numbers and company or sender names and creates filenames such as INV 2024 001 Company.pdf. This mode is especially useful for bookkeepers and accountants managing invoice batches.
Document Mode
Document Mode is designed for a broader range of file types. It classifies documents such as invoices, contracts, letters, receipts, and notices, then extracts sender and date information to produce filenames like DocumentType Sender Date.pdf. Invoices found inside mixed document batches are still recognized and handled with invoice specific extraction.
