I've been subscribed to Soulkyn since September 2025 at its highest offered subscription tiers.
It's a solid and reliable platform, with a lot going for it. I have used and am still a subscriber to a few other competing platforms, but Soulkyn is quickly replacing them all.
The good:
- Top notch character creation with unlimited freedom, including allowing realistic style characters. Most other platforms either disallow realistic characters, or lock them down into a limited number of preset choices. Soulkyn truly allows full customization of every aspect of your character, within legal boundaries.
- Unparalleled memory system. In every other platform I've used, characters begin to lose their memory of past conversation history and events within anywhere from a dozen messages on the worst platforms, to after a hundred on the best. On Soulkyn, I've had chats with a thousand of messages and the AI has been able to near-perfectly recall events that happened at the start of chat.
- Bleeding Edge Technology. The sole developer of Soulkyn, Fyx, keeps up to date with the latest in AI technology. New tech such as Z-Image-Turbo were adopted within a few months of their release, keeping Soulkyn at the top of its game.
- Unlimited chat messaging. Most other platforms cost tokens per message, or only provide a lower quality LLM model for free messaging. Soulkyn's model is free with your subscription. Every chat with every character will always be at its highest quality.
- Unlimited image generation with higher sub tiers. Soulkyn is the only platform I'm aware of that even offers this option, and let me tell you, once you've used a platform that allows you to generate thousands of images for free, it's impossible to use any other platform. I've generated over 70,000 images, and my typical process of creating a character will entail generating between 600 to 3000 images for the perfect 50 images, discarding the rest. Ever experienced image gen giving your character 3 legs or 20 fingers? Trash it and generate another. On other platforms, you're stuck with the broken image or are forced to pay tokens for new images. With Soulkyn, I can create the perfect curated galleries for my characters.
- Uncensored text model. Other platforms pay for their LLM model from third party API providers like OpenRouter. Soulkyn operate their own model, and it rocks. It's fully uncensored, and moderation only kicks in for good legal reasons. Other platforms frequently restrict some types of content such as incest, but Soulkyn embraces full creative freedom within legal reason.
The ugly:
- Video generation. Video generation lags behind other leading platforms, lacking features such as extending already created videos, and motion still leaves something to be desired, with large movements often resorting in tearing or morphing. With that said, Soulkyn is always improving its video generation, and in the time since I've joined, video generation prices have been *significantly* reduced, more higher quality options like 1440p upscaling were added, LoRA support for new presets were added, and most recently audio+voice options were added and are continually being improved.
- Occasional downtime. Soulkyn is still in BETA development, and some downtime is to be expected. In my time on Soulkyn, there have been repeated periods of frequent down time, however, to Soulkyn's credit they have always been fast at restoring services and fully transparent in what occurred and how they're fixing the problem. As time goes on, the platform has become more stable, and I hope to see it improve more in the future.
The bad:
- Pricing. No matter how you frame it, Soulkyn is expensive. This is the cost of Soulkyn owning its entire technology stack and renting its own GPUs. Other platforms pay for API access to third party platforms or rely on investor funding, making them beholden to investors pulling their funding or an API changing or canceling its model, or forcing censorship on how its model is used. Soulkyn is 100% self-reliant, 100% uncensored, and never at risk of someone else's decisions harming the platform.
- Group chat. Group chat on Soulkyn is significantly behind competing platforms. What it has is serviceable, but it lacks common features you'll find on other platforms such as muting or selecting who talks, and the group chat participant limit is only 3 characters.
