What Is call4me?
call4me is an AI-powered calling service that lets people use their AI assistants to make real phone calls on their behalf. Instead of calling a business themselves, users can ask tools like ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, or Codex to handle the conversation.
The service is designed for everyday tasks such as booking restaurant tables, scheduling appointments, cancelling subscriptions, or asking businesses for information. It can speak with customer service representatives, follow automated phone menus, and wait on hold until someone answers.
For example, someone who needs to change a dentist appointment can simply tell their AI assistant what they want. call4me contacts the dental office, explains the request, and reports back with the result.
The platform can also connect the user to an ongoing call when personal input or confirmation is needed.
Unlike traditional AI chatbots that only provide written answers, call4me allows AI assistants to communicate with real people over the phone. This makes it useful for tasks that cannot be completed through a website or online booking form.
How Does call4me Work?
call4me connects to supported AI assistants through Model Context Protocol (MCP), a system that allows AI tools to work with external services.
Getting started involves connecting the call4me remote MCP server to a compatible AI assistant and signing in with a Google or X account. Users then add prepaid calling credits, starting at $10.
Once connected, they can give their AI assistant instructions in normal language. For example, they might ask it to call a restaurant, check whether a table is available for four people on Friday evening, and make a reservation if possible.
The AI assistant passes the request to call4me, which places the call using a real phone number. Its voice agent explains the request, responds to questions, and works through automated menus when necessary.
If the business asks something the AI cannot answer, the assistant may need additional information from the user. The user can also join the conversation by answering a call from call4me and pressing 1.
After the conversation ends, call4me provides a summary of what happened and a transcript. Users can also access available call recordings through their accounts.
The service uses prepaid credits rather than a fixed monthly calling subscription. Standard calls cost $0.25 per minute, including time spent on hold or navigating phone menus. Some international destinations have higher rates. Monthly credit reloads are enabled by default but can be disabled.
Features Highlights
1. AI Phone Calls to Real Businesses
call4me allows supported AI assistants to contact restaurants, clinics, stores, customer service departments, and other businesses. Users explain what they need, and the AI handles the conversation. This can be particularly helpful when a business does not offer online booking or customer support through chat.
2. Appointment Booking and Cancellation
The platform can help arrange appointments, change existing bookings, and request cancellations. It can also ask about available dates, prices, and service requirements. Whether the request can be completed depends on the business and any verification it requires.
3. Automated Phone Menus and Hold Times
One of call4me's most practical features is its ability to navigate automated phone systems. The AI can listen to menu options, select the appropriate department, and wait for a representative. Users can continue doing other things while the call is handled.
4. Call Summaries, Transcripts, and Recordings
After each call, users can review the outcome and read a transcript of the conversation. Available recordings can also be played or saved. This is useful for checking appointment details, customer service instructions, and information provided during the call.
5. Live Call Transfers and Personal Assistance
Users don't always have to leave the entire conversation to AI. call4me can ring their phone when a real person answers or when the business needs additional information. Users can join the conversation, listen without speaking, or hand control back to the AI assistant.
Compatibility
call4me works with several AI assistants and applications that support MCP connections, including ChatGPT, Claude, Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor, and OpenAI Codex.
The service runs through a remote server, so users don't need to install separate calling software on their computers. They do, however, need a compatible AI application and must complete the initial connection process.
Developers can also add call4me to their own applications using its open-source GitHub project or the call4me-ai-sdk npm package. The project uses an MIT license, allowing developers to inspect and adapt the code.
The service supports calls to businesses in the United States, Canada, much of Europe, and several other destinations. Certain countries require an additional local phone number, and international calling rates may vary.
call4me also assigns users a US phone number for outgoing calls and can handle callbacks from businesses.
It is intended for legitimate business and service calls, not telemarketing, unsolicited calls, or emergency services.
Case Studies
Restaurant Reservations
Someone planning a dinner can ask their AI assistant to contact a restaurant and check table availability. The assistant can explain the preferred date, time, and number of guests, then attempt to make the reservation. If the requested time is unavailable, it can ask about alternatives and report the options.
Medical and Dental Appointments
A patient who needs to schedule a routine dental checkup can use call4me to contact the clinic. The AI can ask about available appointment times, prices, and whether new patients are accepted. If the clinic needs personal information or verification, the user may need to join the call.
Customer Service and Subscription Cancellations
People often spend time waiting on hold to cancel subscriptions or resolve billing questions. With call4me, they can ask their AI assistant to contact customer support, explain the issue, and request the appropriate action. The final transcript helps them check what was discussed and whether the request was completed.
Product Availability and Price Checks
A shopper looking for a specific product can ask call4me to contact a local store. The AI can check whether the item is available, ask about pricing, and find out if the store offers reservations or collection.
Small Business Administration
Freelancers and small business owners can use call4me for routine calls, including checking service availability, requesting quotes, or confirming appointments. Instead of interrupting their work for every phone inquiry, they can delegate simpler conversations to their AI assistant and review the results afterward.
