subtitle.im Review: An In-Depth Overview

captions Chrome extension OCR subtitles YouTube

subtitle.im is a uniuq Chrome extension specially designed for the managing of existing YouTube captions. It turns captions on automatically, detects burned-in subtitles in video frames locally, and helps you avoid a second layer of duplicate captions. You can restore captions whenever you want.

The extension processes video frames and OCR results in your browser. It does not upload those frames for recognition. Account and licensing services may use the network.

Choose how duplicate captions are handled: close them automatically, ask before closing, or keep both. Pro includes ongoing automatic processing, channel rules, individual video exceptions, and memory for confirmed caption closures. Manual CC changes stop automatic adjustment for the current viewing.

Try 10 successfully processed videos free without registration. Pro is available as an annual plan or a lifetime purchase. subtitle.im manages existing captions; it does not generate, translate, download subtitles, or remove burned-in subtitles.
