What Is It?
Witness is an AI detection tool that helps people check whether a photo, video, or audio recording is real or has been created or changed using AI. With deepfakes becoming harder to spot, it's not always easy to know what to believe online.
Witness makes checking suspicious content simple. Users can upload a file or paste a link, and the tool analyzes it in just a few seconds. It can detect signs of AI-generated images, face swaps, and cloned voices, while explaining what it found.
How It Works
Using Witness is pretty straightforward. Users upload a photo, video, or voice recording, and the platform runs it through several AI detection systems.
These systems can recognize content created by more than 75 families of AI generators, including popular image, video, and voice cloning tools.
Instead of simply saying something is fake, Witness gives users a score showing how likely the content is to be AI-generated. It also explains which details raised suspicion.
For images, it can highlight suspicious areas. For videos, it shows which frames may have been changed. It also checks file information and digital authenticity records when available.
Each scan gets a unique audit ID that can be used as a reference later. According to the company, uploaded files are deleted after processing rather than stored.
Of course, no AI detector is perfect, so the results should be treated as helpful evidence rather than absolute proof.

Products & Pricing
Witness is available as a web app, a Chrome extension, and an API for developers.
The Chrome extension lets users check images and videos while browsing websites. It can also help identify possible deepfakes during live video calls.
Developers can connect Witness to their own applications using its API or MCP server.
The free plan includes 20 scans per month without requiring a credit card. The Pro plan costs $15 per month or $120 per year.
Larger businesses can choose an Enterprise plan with custom pricing, single sign-on, audit logs, and the option to run the software on their own infrastructure.
